How do I measure my bay window for curtains?

Curtains hung from a curtain pole will be suspended at about  the same level or just below it, whereas curtains fitted to a track will cover the track itself.
• What’s the right height for your curtain pole or track? If you want your window to look taller and grander than it really is, you could position your pole or track as close to the ceiling as possible and allow your curtains to hang to the floor. However, a recessed bay window with a window sill may suit a shorter length curtain.
