Here are some of our frequently asked questions (FAQs) about eyelet curtains. If you have a question about our service or your appointment, please see our general FAQs.
Eyelet curtains are a simple and contemporary option, designed with metal rings at the header which thread onto the curtain pole. The curtain hang in soft uniformed folds that look neat whether opened or closed.
There are several factors to consider when it comes to measuring for curtains, including getting the width right so there is enough 'gather' in the fabric and getting the drop spot on so they hang at the right level. You also need to factor in the type of curtain pole or track you need and the header type you've chosen. At Hillarys we take care of all the measuring and fitting, with expert advisors local to you. They'll even fit your pole or track if ordered from our range.
All of our made-to-measure curtains are available with a Blackout lining, which will reduce the amount of light coming into your room. However, the way eyelet curtains are made and fitted means light can seep through the eyelets and around the edges. This can be minimised by layering with a Blackout blind or by choosing a different header for your curtains. Your advisors will be able to advise on the best solution for your room.
No, they can only be fitted onto a 28mm metal curtain pole.
Our Eyelet curtains are designed to fit on to a 28mm metal curtain pole. If you choose one of our curtain poles, your local advisor will fit it for you, so you don’t have to worry about getting it right. Visit our poles and tracks page for more detail.
Yes, all our made-to–measure curtains can help you retain the heat in your room and help to banish draughts. The curtains work by reducing the amount of air exchange between the colder windows and the rest of your room, which is warmer. Heavier curtains are more effective at insulation so it makes sense to choose a thicker curtain fabric such as velvet, along with a thermal or blackout lining. Your local advisor will give you expert advice at your in-home appointment to find the best solution for you, your space and your budget.
