    Questions on our kitchen curtains?

See answers to our most frequently asked questions on kitchen curtains. If you have a question about our service or your appointment, see our FAQs here.

How do I measure for kitchen curtains?

At Hillarys, measuring and fitting is included as part of our service, so you don't have to worry about getting the measurements correct. Just book an in-home appointment with your local advisor and we'll take care of the rest.

Should I put curtains in my kitchen?

Curtains are ideal for kitchen dining spaces and contemporary kitchen extensions, and will add an elegant, homely feel. However, for windows directly above a sink or next to cooking appliances, we recommend our range of wipe-clean, moisture-resistant kitchen blinds.

How do I choose kitchen curtains?

Our range of kitchen curtains includes a wide range of fabric and colour options, so you can choose the perfect curtains for your taste. If your kitchen tends to be chilly, choose a blackout lining, or if you want a bright and airy space with daytime privacy, you could go for Voiles. Your local advisor will be happy to give you expert advice at your in-home appointment.

Will my kitchen curtains help keep the heat in?

Yes, all our made-to-measure curtains can help you retain the heat in your room and reduce draughts. To keep as much heat as possible in your kitchen choose curtains with a blackout lining or thermal lining - it'll help reduce heat loss by 14% to keep your home cosier. In summer, they can also help keep a room cooler by reducing the amount of heat that enters through your windows. A blackout lining will also help block the light so you can cook and dine in comfort when the sun's rays are particuarlly strong. Choose naturally thicker curtain fabrics like velvet or layer your curtains over a made-to-measure blind to improve the thermal qualities of your curtains even further. Closing your curtains by dusk will help insulate your kitchen windows at night and keep the space feeling cosy.
