    Questions on our curtains?

See answers to our most frequently asked questions on pencil pleat curtains. If you have a question about our service or your appointment, see our FAQs here.

    What are Pencil pleat curtains?

This is a traditional curtain header, that most people are familiar with. Cords within the header are pulled to gather the fabric into casual pleats before they are fitted to the track or pole. Discover more.

How do I hang Pencil pleat curtains?

It's important that cords within the pencil pleat header have been pulled carefully to ensure an even distribution of pleats and folds. This is done before the curtains are fitted. Your local Hillarys advisor is an expert at fitting all types of curtains, and will also even steam them afterwards for a professional look.

How do pencil pleat curtains work?

Pencil pleat curtains are attached to a curtain pole or a track. If you choose a curtain pole your curtain will sit below it, but if you choose a track you will want the heading to cover the track. Your local advisor is happy to advise on all your options.

What should I hang Pencil pleat curtains on?

You can choose either a pole or a track from our extensive range.

Can Pencil pleat curtains keep my room warmer?

Yes, all our made-to–measure curtains can help you retain the heat in your room and help to banish draughts. The curtains work by reducing the amount of air exchange between the colder windows and the rest of your room, which is warmer. Heavier curtains are more effective at insulation so it makes sense to choose a thicker curtain fabric such as velvet, along with a thermal or blackout lining. Your local advisor will give you expert advice at your in-home appointment to find the best solution for you, your space and your budget.
