What we say about thermal curtains for winter

    • All our made-to-measure curtain fabrics are available with a thermal lining
    • This heavy lining helps to reduce heat loss through your windows and doors by 14%
    • Team thermal linings with naturally thicker curtain fabrics, like velvet, to improve their thermal qualities.
    • Thermal lined curtains pair wonderfully with Voiles. The sheer voile fabric will gently filter the light while providing daytime privacy and the insulated curtains will help keep your room snug at night.

    Questions on our thermal curtains?

Here are some of our frequently asked questions (FAQs) about our thermal curtains. If you have a question about our service or your appointment, please see our general FAQs.

    What are thermal curtains?

Thermal curtains are a type of window dressing designed with a heavier thermal lining that helps to reduce heat loss through your windows. A Thermal lining is a fabric with a single acrylic coating. This reduces the amount of heat which can be lost by transmission through the fabric. Thermal linings offer a fuller appearance, extra privacy, and they help to reduce fading and to block incoming light. What’s more, they can reduce heat loss by up to 14% above a standard polyester cotton lining.

Do thermal curtains keep cold out?

Thermal curtains add an extra layer of insulation to your windows so they're a great way of stopping heat escaping out and cold air coming in. Always choose well-fitting curtains that provide good coverage all around the window and for maximum impact make sure you close your curtains as soon as the sun goes down. We worked with the experts at Salford University to understand how our products can help prevent heat loss. The results from their specially created lab, the 'Energy House' showed that our thermal lined curtains reduce heat loss by 14%.

How do I attach a thermal lining to my curtains?

Our expert seamstresses will make your choice of curtain fabric with a thermal lining, so you don’t need to worry about this. Simply discuss your requirements with your local advisor and we’ll do it all for you. Measuring and fitting is all included in the price too. Book your appointment to find out more.
